His Holiness said the common aim of humanity is to have a happy world. Such a happy world will have to be based on the existence of a healthy community...

On the last day of his current visit to California, on May 4, 2011 His Holiness the Dalai Lama received an award from Amnesty International and spoke at two universities on human rights, compassion and global responsibility... His Holiness said being warmhearted was a criterion of leadership, which also involved being long sighted, full of vision and being practical.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama takes part in a panel discussion "Turning Swords into Ploughshares: The Many Paths of Non-Violence" at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas on May 11, 2011... His Holiness mentioned that the very nature of violence is one of unpredictability and therefore it cannot be lasting solution to any problem.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Minneapolis on May 9, 2011 for his next leg of his program in Dallas, Texas, receiving an honorary degree from the SouthernMethodist University and giving a talk on democracy... His Holiness said that all human beings were the same and that difference in faith, race, language, culture, etc., was secondary.

On May 8, 2011 His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave the Medicine Buddha empowerment and a public talk on “Peace Through Inner Peace.” Both of these programswere part of the theme “One Heart, One Mind, One Universe” of this visit to Minneapolis, which is co-hosted by the Center for Spirituality & Healing (CSH) at the University of Minnesota and the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota (TAFM)... His Holiness said extreme self-centered attitude and narrow vision not only did not enable the development of inner peace but also could be harming people physically.

Toulouse, France, 14 August 2011 - His Holiness the Dalai Lama said he has been impressed with Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay's views on education, praising his policy to generate 10,000 professionally trained Tibetans within the next decade... His Holiness went on to say that he has three fundamental commitments. The first is the promotion of basic human values and the achievement of full human potential.

In his remarks His Holiness talked about the significance of moral ethics and why people need to make special effort in adhering to them.

On July 13th His Holiness left for the teaching venue very early in the morning to undertake the self-generation prayers, part of the Kalachakra preparatory rituals. Later in the morning, His Holiness visited Capitol Hill to meet members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Speaker Penpa Tsering, KalonTripa-elect Lobsang Sangay, Special Envoy Lodi Gyari and Secretary Tenzin Taklha accompanied His Holiness...

His Holiness the Dalai Lama began his day on May 10, 2011 with a meeting with former US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, Paula Dobriansky.

In his concluding remarks, His Holiness said that he was not saying anything new but only being a messenger of the ancient Indian teachings.
