OPEN LETTER
Dear Venerables, Brothers and Sisters in Dharma,
Thank you for your time in reading this letter.
To begin, I am Thich Nguyen Tang, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk at the Quang Duc
Monastery in Melbourne. I completed a course study at the Buddhist University in
Saigon in 1997, graduating with Bachelor of Buddhism. Before and during my studies, I was
put in charge of the International Buddhism page of the Giac Ngo (Enlightenment)
Magazine published in Saigon, a position I hold for eight years. Although, I am now
living and working in Australia, I still submit articles to this magazine. Currently, I am
employed in the Buddhist ministry to the Vietnamese community here.
I am researching material for a book on Buddhism Throughout The World and
the application of the Buddhas teachings with respect to modern lifestyles. The aim
of the book is to show the history of Buddhism and how Buddhism has spread throughout the
world.
I would be most grateful if you could send me any information regarding Buddhism in
your country. Your kind assistance will, of course, be noted in the book.
Again, thank you very much for your time in reading this letter and I eagerly await
your reply,
Yours in Dharma,
Ven. THICH NGUYEN TANG

BUDDHISM THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
By Thich
Nguyen Tang
² 2,500 years after I have passed away into Nirvana, the Highest Doctrine will become
spread in the country of the red-faced people.
BUDDHA
² The Religion of the future will be a cosmic. If should transcend a personal God and
avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based
on a religion sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a
meaningsful unity. Buddhism answers this description

² If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific need, it would be
Buddhism.
