MOURNING ANNOUNCEMENT]
We are the disciples of Master Chon
Kien of
Thien Phu Temple in Nha Trang, Vietnam
Quang Duc Monastery in Melbourne, Australia.
With the greatest grief, we sorrowfully announce the
passing of our Master

Venerable Master Thich
Chon Kien,
(Dharma name - Thich Trung Loc, Bikkhu name -
Thich An Minh, lay name - Ngo Dinh Thung),
was born on 20 June 1948 in Nha Trang City
He founded and became the Abbot of Thien Phu Temple
and Phuoc Son Monastery in Nha Trang.
He was the Master of Ven Thich Nguyen Tang, Vice Abbot
of Quang Duc Monastery and Deputy-Secretary of
Australian Buddhist Congregation
After a long illness, and despite the best of care from
Doctors, Nurses and Disciples, our Master could not
recover, and passed peacefully away at 6pm, Sunday, 3
September 2006 at Thien Phu Temple, Nha Trang.
Entered monastic life
49 years ago,
and attended 37 Summer retreats. He was 59 years old.
The Funeral Ceremony in Vietnam will be as follows:

Body will be laid to rest in the coffin, at 5:00 pm on
Monday, 4th September 2006

Coffin will be buried under the tower within Thien Phu
Temple at 8:00 am on Friday, 8th September
2006.
In Australia, the Memorial Services will
be held at:
7:00 pm on Thursday, 7th
September 2006,
at the Quang Duc Monastery,
105 Lynch Road, Fawkner, Victoria, 3060.
